Samsung release statement after some of their phones start randomly sending users’ photos to various contacts

You might want to check the photos that are on your phone.

Samsung have launched an investigating after some users claimed that their phones have started randomly sending photos from their camera roll to contacts without their permission.

A spokeswoman for the tech giant said: “We are aware of the reports regarding this matter and our technical teams are looking into it.”

The issue was first flagged on Reddit and the company’s official forums. Since then, The Verge have reported that the photo messages are being sent through Samsung’s default texting app Samsung Messages.

What’s strange though is that it does not show the files have been sent. Basically, a photo can be sent to a complete stranger and users have no idea what happened.

It appears that this glitch isn’t unique to any one device/model.

In the meantime, it has been suggested that users should switch to a different messaging app. It’s also possible to prevent files from being sent by disabling access to a phone’s storage in the Samsung Messages app.
