Thursday!
The weather isn’t getting any better.
The evenings are getting darker.
Only one thing to do. That’s right, watch several movies on your TV screen.
Here’s the bill for this Thursday, 29 November…
Now You See Me – Film 4 – 6.45pm
Still raging that they didn’t call the sequel Now You Don’t.
Terminator: Genisys – Film 4 – 9pm
Yeesh. Worth watching to see what a mess they made of the once-sacred Terminator series.
Genisys throws literally everything imaginable at the screen in what amounted to a messy Greatest Hits remix thing, with callbacks to every single film that came before.
Arnie has his moments, I guess?
Dark City – SyFy – 9pm
Underrated cult favourite ’90s science fiction with a colour scheme that’ll either impress or upset your eyes.
The Enforcer – ITV4 – 10pm
Clint Eastwood IS Dirty Harry.
The Enforcer IS decent.
Ransom – TCM – 11pm
Pretty sharp ’90s kidnap thriller with Mel Gibson, Rene Russo and the forever underrated Gary Sinise.
Monsters: Dark Continent – Film 4 – 11.25pm
Monsters was a low-budget, slow-burning drama that focused on character development and mined drama with a ‘tell, don’t show’ approach. It was very good.
Monsters: Dark Continent is a macho gun-toting sequel that has almost nothing in common with the original. It isn’t great, but hey, that’s Thursday night for you.
LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
