Teenager left with “life-changing” injuries following assault by up to 20 youths in Dublin

Dublin assault man dies

Up to 20 people participated in the attack.

Gardaí at Clontarf Garda Station are investigating a serious assault that left an 18-year-old boy with “life-changing injuries.”

A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána confirmed that the boy received a number of stab wounds during the incident, which occurred on Thursday evening (2 January).

The incident occurred at Thorndale Walk, Artane. The laneway where the altercation occurred runs between Thorndale Estate and St David’s Sports Grounds in the Dublin 5 postal code.

Gardaí have said that: “It is believed that up to 20 youths from the local surrounding area carried out this attack, all of whom fled in the direction of the Rockfield Park area between 8pm and 9pm on Thursday evening.”

The victim’s injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

It is possible that footage of the attack has surfaced on social media, as Gardaí are asking anyone who has seen such footage to come forward.
