Not going out clubbing? Read on…
Well, the day is finally here.
Nightclubs are back, curfews are out, and you may well be hitting the town tonight.
If you’re staying in, however, you’ve got three options.
The first is this week’s edition of The Late Late Show – get the line-up right here.
The second is tuning into Graham Norton’s talk show instead.
The third? Why, movies on TV, of course.
Here’s how it looks on Friday, 22 October…
Home Alone 2: Lost in New York – Film4 – 6.40pm
The one with the Donald Trump cameo.
The Punisher – Virgin Media One – 9pm
A decidedly more grounded superhero movie in comparison to the usual MCU fare, 2004’s attempt at adapting The Punisher finds Thomas Jane’s vengeful family man going up against gangster John Travolta.
Instant Family – Film4 – 9pm
Mark Wahlberg and Rose Byrne foster three kids. Comedic chaos ensues.
Rambo III – ITV4 – 9pm
The third one.
Jason Bourne – E4 – 9.15pm
The fifth film in the Bourne series and Matt Damon’s fourth.
Inglourious Basterds – Turner Classic Movies / TCM – 10pm
Brad Pitt leads a crack team of commandos with one goal – killing Nazis.
The Zookeeper’s Wife – RTÉ 2 – 10pm
Jessica Chastain stars in a true story about a Warsaw-based animal lover who used her zoo as a hiding place for hundreds of Jews during World War II.
Monsters and Men – Film4 – 11.20pm
Powerful drama exploring the impact of a police shooting, with John David Washington.
A Time to Kill – BBC One – 11.25pm
Our main pick this evening.
Matthew McConaughey defends Samuel L. Jackson in a popular John Grisham adaptation.
Directed by the late Joel Schumacher, this tense mid-90s courtroom drama boasts a hell of a cast even beyond the aforementioned – Sandra Bullock, Kiefer Sutherland, Ashley Judd, Brenda Fricker, Donald Sutherland, Oliver Platt and Chris Cooper all lend support.
Kevin Spacey is also present, if you can still stomach him.
Gosford Park – RTÉ One – 11.40pm
An elegant mystery with an incredible cast, as directed by the great Robert Altman.
Clive Owen, Michael Gambon, Kelly Macdonald, Helen Mirren, Richard E. Grant, Charles Dance, Stephen Fry, Ryan Phillippe, Emily Watson, Maggie Smith and yet more familiar faces find their party ruined… by murder.
Let’s Be Cops – Channel 4 – 12.05am
Jake Johnson and Damon Wayans Jr. give the ‘pretend law enforcement’ thing a go.
