Motorists are advised to avoid the Dublin Airport complex where possible.

Several people have been injured after a large truck hit multiple cars and a bus on the Terminal 1 departures road of Dublin Airport.

This was before it came to a stop near the Circle K garage exiting the airport.

Emergency services are currently at the scene of the incident which occurred at around 7.20pm on Wednesday (22 December).

According to the Daa, a number of minor injuries have been reported, none of which are life threatening.

“Some of those injured have been brought to hospital,” it said in a statement.

A Garda spokesperson, meanwhile, said a number of cars were also damaged.

Because of the crash, motorists are advised to avoid the Dublin Airport complex where possible due to road closures.

This is as Gardaí conduct a technical examination of the scene.

Gardaí are treating the incident as a medical emergency and it is understood that the driver of the truck experienced a medical trauma.

“The departures road and the main exit road are currently closed but are expected to reopen once the Garda forensic team conclude their work presently,” the Daa said.

“Diversions are in place and those travelling to Dublin Airport are advised to allow extra time for journeys this evening.”
