“Such a good egg” – Ryan Tubridy on the nicest person he’s had on the Late Late Show

“He’s such a good egg.”

The Late Late Show host Ryan Tubridy has revealed that Michael Bublé was the “nicest person” he had on the show after the Canadian singer spent time with the host’s mother after his interview.

Speaking on his Friday morning show on RTÉ Radio One, Tubridy couldn’t give higher praise to Bublé.

“[Michael is] probably the nicest person you could meet coming into the chat show. He won a Grammy a few weeks ago and I’m so happy for him. He’s such a good egg.”

“He’s always so personable and charming and pleasant and funny – he’s got a wicked sense of humour.”

The host recalled bringing his mother to a recording of the Late Late when Bublé was due for an interview. After mentioning to the four-time Grammy Award-winner that he had to check on his mum after the show, Bublé asked to meet her.

“So sure enough he came up and he met my mother… She saw him and [said] ‘Michael,’ took him by his head and said, ‘It’s younger you’re getting.’

“He gave her a hug and we had a great old chat, and I have the loveliest photographs of it all. It was so nice. [He’s] a nice guy. Really good egg.”

Yesterday’s Late Late Show featured Irish acting sensation Paul Mescal, who chatted to Ryan about his “very surreal” Oscar nod. Mescal was joined Emily Watson, his co-star in the Irish drama God’s Creatures, which opened the Dublin International Film Festival this week.
