One hesitant spa-goer didn’t want to wear a robe.

Having successfully led Wexford to win the All-Ireland in 1996, Liam Griffin is a man who knows how to succeed in the world of sport. His experience at the helm of a senior hurling team is what helped his transition into the world of business.

Liam was speaking to host Tadhg Enright on The Architects of Business, in partnership with EY Entrepreneur Of The Year™. Already a household name, Liam said there were times when people were shocked to see him running a spa.

When a man who recognised him said he didn’t want to be seen wearing a robe, Liam was shocked to find the same man wearing one 20 minutes later. Apparently, the hesitant spa-goer was won over when a certain Irish rugby legend was spotted enjoying a bit of pampering.

He said to Liam: “I met that big Paul O’Connell coming down in a robe. And I said Jaysus I’m going after him anyways!”

While a 6’4″ rugby player might be entitled to enjoy a spa day, this man had a reputation to uphold.

“I tell you something, I’m going to be driving a Massey Ferguson tomorrow morning. If you ever tell anyone about this, I’ll deny it,” he said to Liam.

EY Entrepreneur of the Year Finalist in 2010 Liam Griffin then asked the man what it was he had to be ashamed of.

The man then replied, “I had a facial!”
