JOE Gets Ripped Blog: Week 5

As he approaches the halfway point of his challenge, Brian Maher is not finding fitting training and diet into his packed schedule any easier...

JOE

Week 5 is coming to an end and all I can say is thank Christ. This week has been pretty hectic with work and also with the planning of my forthcoming wedding, so trying to squeeze in all my sessions, especially the days with two, has been challenging in it self.

It has just meant I’ve had to plan out each day with more care, from my meals, to what I’ve needed to pack for the gym and work. Preparation is the key and considering the fact my nutrition is such a major part of my challenge, having the right meals and snacks with me is essential. As you can see by the pic, I never thought I’d be pre-packing carrots as a snack for work!

I found I had got into a routine of eating similar food each day, from an egg pancake/omelette in the morning to chicken and vegetable at night. Mixing things up is a good way to stay motivated and also to keep your body guessing. So this week I’ve been trying out some new combinations which are all pretty simple to prepare while still being tasty – such as the Sheppard’s pie, using sweet potato on top.

With this terrible week down, I’m heading into the half way point – week 6. I’m already looking forward to getting into it as I’ll be changing up my cardio session doing some boxing and hill sprints. We’ll see if I have the same enthusiasm this time next week.
