Learn to use your food as fuel for intense workout sessions

300: Rise of an Empire had a cast that were all in the best shape of their lives, thanks to the intense workouts that they undertook in order to get in shape for the movie.

The gruelling sessions in the gym weren’t the only thing they needed to do however, as diet and nutrition were also a key factor, so we headed along to Raw Condition Gym on their website in Dublin to chat to personal trainer Anthony Lynch, who walked us through the basics.

Although knowing what to choose in the supermarket can be a daunting task to undertake, Anthony explains clearly and simply what to eat and, importantly, how to figure out the timing. There’s no rocket science to it, it’s about getting the right nutrients from your food, and making sure that you’re eating plenty of clean carbs like oats and porridge, getting your veg, and making sure that you’ve got a few good sources of protein.

Wondering what to do in the gym to put all that clean eating to even further good use? Then check out our series of 300 workouts that the lads did for the movie, from the everyday training to the gruelling ‘initiation’ that will really test your limits.

Keep an eye out for our next workout series for a few tips on getting back into the swing of things this month, and keep up with the latest from Raw Condition Gym on their website or check out their Facebook page and their Twitter too.
