The much-anticipated sequel is coming in 2025

Grand Theft Auto 6 is one of the most anticipated gaming titles of 2025 – and the release date might have been leaked.

The leak has been spotted on video game store website, XUruguay by gamers.

According to XUruguay, the next installment in the iconic series is set to release on 17 September as a PlayStation 5 exclusive.

The ‘leaked’ release date was posted on the game’s page in their store catalogue, which would align with Take-Two’s plans to ship the game in autumn 2025.

If the 17 September date is true then it means GTA VI would launch exactly 12 years after GTA V, which hit the shelves on the same date in 2013.

The leaked release date was posted on the GTA 6 page.

Gaming website 80 Level also reached out to the store to find out more about the alleged release date.

XUruguay claimed that they work directly with PlayStation, which provides them with information on what products to sell and when.

This could mean that some miscommunication between the store and game developers led to the accidental early reveal of the release date.

Some fans might be wondering if XUruguay is a reliable company, but it has 5-star rating on Tripadvisor and a 97% trust score on ScamAdviser, so it seems pretty legit.

At the time of writing the date has disappeared off the game’s page on XUruguay’s website, with the description now reading: “A new GTA installment exclusive to PS5.”

What is the GTA 6 release date?

The ‘leaked’ date says 17 September, which aligns with rumours that it’ll be released in autumn 2025.

Fans of the franchise can expect an official release date to be confirmed by developers soon.
