WATCH: The story trailer for Horizon Forbidden West is a star-studded affair

2022’s first blockbuster game is almost here.

Hollywood stars appearing in video games is not a new phenomenon.

Liam Neeson in Fallout 3, Keanu Reeves in Cyberpunk 2077, Rami Malek in Until Dawn, Kit Harrington in Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, Norman Reedus in Death Stranding, the list goes on and on.

However, it is this paired with the excitement surrounding the sequel to 2017’s smash hit Horizon Zero Dawn that should have gamers working up into a bit of a frenzy.

Horizon Forbidden West once again has you controlling Aloy, a huntress in the distant future where robot dinosaurs roam the Earth, still searching for the origin of a mysterious plague that kills and destroys everything it comes into contact with.

Playstation has released the first official story trailer for the sequel, taking us into some new territories – including what looks like a very large sunken city – while re-introducing us to some old characters, and unveiling some new ones.

Lance Reddick (John Wick, Fringe) is back as Sylens, one of Aloy’s fellow warriors, but we also get our first glimpse of Angela Bassett (Black Panther, What’s Love Got To Do With It) as Regalla, who is apparently the story’s primary antagonist.

Towards the end of the trailer, we also see Tilda, played by Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix), who may hold the key to helping humanity “rise above our ruin”.

Also, it hasn’t been confirmed yet, but one of Aloy’s partners on the venture into the Forbidden West looks to potentially be Nathan Stewart-Jarrett (Skins, Misfits, Candyman).

We’ll see if there are any more big names hidden away with the campaign once we get our hands on the game next month.

Horizon Forbidden West will be available to play on PS5 and PS4 from Friday, 18 February.
