Some exciting news for gaming fans…

Gaming fans have eagerly been awaiting the announcement of when the PlayStation 5 Pro will be released, but now, a potential date has been revealed.

According to gaming journalist Tom Henderson, who has successfully leaked PlayStation hardware plans in the past, the new console is set to hit the shelves in November of 2024.

The PS5 Pro has reportedly been under active development since 2022, with a number of studios set to receive devkits by the end of this year.

Included in Henderson’s breakdown of the new console, he states that Sony will seek to introduce improved frame rates in 4k resolution, with optional 8k modes too.

This would be a very welcomed upgrade amongst gaming fans, particularly if rumours around a 2024 release date for GTA 6 are to be believed…

PlayStation 6 release date also mentioned:

Other improvements are reported to include accelerated ray tracing and up to 18,000mts worth of memory.

This update to the PS5 is set to be the last major hardware update before the PS6 is released, with Henderson’s report also floating a potential release date of 2028 for that console.

Also mentioning Microsoft’s Xbox, Henderson added that there is not expected to be any further hardware updates to this generation’s console.

For those wondering how much the PS5 Pro will cost, that information is yet to come to light, but given the PS5’s starting price point of €500 upon its release in 2020, you can be sure that it won’t come cheap.

Another Sony related piece of gaming news this week was that the Japanese company and Microsoft signed an agreement which would see Activision’s Call of Duty remain on PlayStation for at least the next decade.
