JOE Gaming Weekly - The new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle game is a pure hit of nostalgia

The all-new PlayStation Plus subscription service is also released this week!

Welcome to JOE Gaming Weekly, your weekly round-up of all things gaming.

Or, specifically, the one big game you should play this week, the one big piece of gaming news you need to know about, and the one big deal available to purchase this week.

So, off we go!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge

If you loved the old-school arcade games where you basically move from left to right, and punch or kick whatever gets in your way, then you will absolutely love this new TMNT game.

It perfectly captures that nostalgia-driven, simplistic gameplay, complete with gorgeously retro graphics and magnificent soundtrack, and marries it to some very modern-thinking adjustments. Who would've though something as simple as a dodge button would improve the gameplay so much??

You can play single player or with up to five others, which can lead to some of the best kind of on-screen pandemonium, and from the jump, you can control Michelangelo, Raphael, Donatello, Leonardo, Master Splinter or April O'Neill, each of which have their own gameplay style and moves to master.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge is available right now on PlayStation, Xbox, Switch and PC.

The all-new PlayStation Plus launches this week

The original version of PlayStation's subscription service has been around for a few years, but this week will see the PS Plus get a massive overhaul. Depending on how much you want to pay, you'll be a part of the Essential, Extra or Premium version of the service, with different levels giving you different amounts of a new and classic games to play.

The new version of PlayStation Plus kicks off on Friday, 24 June.

We did a full write-up on all of the games that will be available upon release, depending on which tier you're subscribed to, and you can check that our right here.

Halo Infinite

Considering the new live-action Halo TV series has finally become available in Ireland and the UK this week, then this is the perfect time to check Halo Infinite out. Originally released in December 2021, chances are you either (A) bought this the second it came out, or (B) have been waiting for the eventual price reduction. If you're in group (B), then this is your week!

Once again, you control Master Chief as he finds himself on the cutting edge of an intergalactic war, hunting down his former partner Cortana before she subjugates the entire galaxy.

Halo Infinite is available for Xbox Series X in Smyth's Toy Stores, marked down to just €29.99.
