We can now reveal the five finalists for the Le Crunch Apple of My Eye Song Contest

And then there were five.

We’re getting down to the business end of things in this year’s Le Crunch Apple of My Eye Song Contest as we prepare for the grand final. That’s it. The finalists have now been chosen.

We asked you to choose three of the finalists in a public vote and the response was incredible. The judges then choose two other acts to make up the final five.

When the smoke cleared, there were five acts remaining in the competition: Katie Cassidy, Slow Seas, Crossing Paths, Scoops and Mimi Lane & Stephen Kelly. It’s certainly a talented line-up for the grand final and the competition promises to be pretty intense on the night.

It’s fair to say that we can’t wait!

The five acts will now go head-to-head in Whelan’s at 7pm on 23 March.

This is where things really heat up for the five finalists. They’ll be performing in front of a packed Whelan’s and hoping to win the judges over with their chosen song. The judges on the night will include Maximum Media Broadcast Director Paddy McKenna, Ham SandwicH singer Niamh Farrell and Peter Dunne, owner of BARE in the Woods.

Whoever is chosen as the winner of the Le Crunch Apple of My Eye Song Contest will walk away with €1500 and the exposure that comes from winning this national competition. Each of the runners-up will get €250.

The final promises to be an amazing night of music and former Le Crunch Apple of My Eye Song Contest winners Brave Giant and Flat Out will also be playing on the night. We’ll be offering you a chance to be in the audience on 23 March so keep an eye on the site next Monday, 20 March, for an update on how you can get a ticket.

In the meantime, here are the five finalists and a reminder of what they did to earn their place in the final.

“Feeling Good” by Katie Cassidy.

“Let Me Love You” by Scoops

“Fill Me In” by  Crossing Paths (Oisin McCaffrey and Clodagh Murray)

“Toxic” by Slow Seas.

“If I ain’t got you” by Mimi Lane and Stephen Kelly.
