The perfect spot to spend a weekend

Recently voted the place to visit in 2018 by Lonely Planet, Belfast has been quietly evolving into an exciting city to explore. Once you start looking at the list of attractions that the city has to offer it’s not hard to see why.

We’ve decided to pull together some of the reasons why Belfast is a great place to spend your Easter weekend. If you’re looking for a place to run off to this weekend, you can’t go wrong with Belfast.

Titanic Belfast

RMS Titanic is arguably the most famous ship in the world. Although it sank over 100 years ago, the enduring story still captures hearts and minds throughout the world.

Titanic Belfast is a fitting tribute to its legacy.

The iconic building which opened in 2012, is located on the exact spot where RMS Titanic was designed, built and launched. You can explore the sights, sounds, smells and stories of the ship along with the people who made her.

SS Nomadic

While you’re at Titanic Belfast, check out SS Nomadic. As Titanic’s original tender ship which ferried first and second class passengers out to the liner, it’s probably the closest you can get to being on the famous ship.

Having been fully restored you have the chance to walk the decks, explore the ship and step back through 100 years of history.

Grub

Whether you like your pub grub or something on the fancier side, Belfast has a vibrant and exciting food scene.

You’ll find food markets, bars, Michelin star restaurants and artisan producers all over the city. Belfast is nothing short of a foodie haven!

The Cathedral Quarter

Take the time to wander the narrow streets of the oldest part of the city.

This buzzing area was once the heart of the city’s literary scene. Now it’s home to a great selection of bars, restaurants and cultural spots.

While you’re there you can check out the Writer’s Square, which celebrates the Belfast’s literary history with quotes from well-known local writers carved into the footpath.

St George’s Market

After a night in the city, start your day off with a traditional Ulster Fry or a Belfast Bap, essential taste experiences during your visit.

The market is jammed full of activities with everything from live music, handmade crafts, vintage clothes and of course, fresh food.

Sightseeing Bus

Belfast is steeped in history. One of the best ways to learn about the city’s past is to take an open top bus tour. You’ll get to take in some of Belfast’s most famous sights including the murals and Stormont Parliament Buildings.

The Ulster Museum

This recently renovated building is full of artefacts from all over the world.

You’ve got Mummies in the Egyptian room, and a history of the troubles on the ground floor and a temporary exhibition with an awesome Game of Thrones tapestry!

The Museum also includes an impressive collection of Prehistoric, Iron and Bronze age artefacts.

Titanic Belfast, crowned the World’s Leading Tourist Attraction in December 2016, is located on the exact spot where RMS Titanic was designed, built and launched in Belfast, only is 90 minutes from Dublin. Check out their website to book now, and for handy journey plans and itineraries to help you make the most of your trip!
