This pub in Kerry is giving two free drinks to every Garda who goes in there today
The Garda strike might not be going ahead, but this offer is…
The scheduled Garda strike for this Friday was postponed after last gasp, late night negotiations on Thursday, with the recommendations of the Labour Court set to be put to a vote amongst members of the Association of Garda Sergeants and Inspectors (AGSI) and the Garda Representatives Association (GRA).
Instead of going on strike, Gardaí across the country will be going to work as usual today and those based in the south west might fancy popping into Charlie Foley’s pub in Killarney when they’re finished their shifts for some refreshments. On the house.
As a show of support for the Gardaí when it looked like the strike was going ahead, the pub posted on Facebook to say they would provide two free drinks to any Garda who showed their badge as a mark of respect.
Although the strike was postponed late on Thursday night, the pub has confirmed to JOE that they will continue to honour their offer throughout the day today because they think "these boys in blue deserve it".
