A 2005 tungston silver Aston Martin DB9 V12 Touchtronic with only 3,000 miles on the clock will be going under the hammer at an Irish motor auction next week.
The two door, automatic coupe with a wood effect trim, air conditioning and a customised Aston Martin Iron Ore interior will feature among the lots at the Merlin Car Auctions in Naas on Wednesday, 3 November at 7pm.
Although the car may not have all the gadgets that Q demonstrated to 007 in Aston Martin scenes from Goldfinger, Thunderball, The Living Daylights, Goldeneye and Die Another Day, it has been valued at between €85,000 and €90,000 – and is expected to go for €70,000.
The car does include a navigation system, reverse parking aid, Xenon headlights, red calipers, alloy wheels, headlight washers, tracking system, trip computer and is complete with a full service history.
According to Merlin O’Reilly, chief executive of Merlin Car Auctions, a number of excited callers have been in relation to the Aston Martin.
Gadgets
“The Aston Martin really is a classic car that appeals to all Bond fans,†he told JOE.ie. “Many motor lovers trace the beginning of their petrol head interests to those scenes as they watched Q introduce the stunning Aston Martin to Bond showcasing all the fantastic MI5 gadgets.
“Of course we all knew that 007 would eventually trash the car in a number of high-speed chases, but that is something that none of these interested bidders will be doing.â€
The prestige auction will feature over 300 vehicles including a large selection of luxury prestige vehicles, ex-finance vehicles, private entries and dealer part exchange offers.
