Brit actor Ed Westwick

Taking a look at the dandyish style of young British actor Ed Westwick - both when dressed up and when more dressed down.

JOE

By Laura Anne Mooney

The English actor, best known for his role as Gossip Girl’s prep-school bad boy Chuck Bass, is a great example of a modern-day dandy.  As the face of GQ’s Autumn Preview ’09, his looks were compared to ‘Jude Law crossed with a pre-psychotropic meltdown Joaquin Phoenix’.  Daring and confident in style and attitude, this actor’s star is only set to rise higher and higher.

He is pictured here at Cosmopolitan magazine’s Fun Fearless Males 2010. Channelling this dandy look is not about mimicking a style, but about daring to be different in your attention to detail. Incorporating bold colours and accessories with classic pieces… check out those to-die-for Prada Loafers.

Bringing Out the Dandy…

Ted Baker, Grafton Street, Dublin, €120

The definition between seasons has begun to blur, and now fabrics and colour choices should reflect this transitional mood. Menswear should be all about a concise palette of colour – core colours overlaid with sharply-defined fashion accents.

Brown Thomas, €420

Tip: The best gear should not just last a season but a lifetime, for example the Prada Loafers referred to above are the ultimate investment, as they can finish any look and are suitable for all occasions.
