Do you watch porn? This new survey says you pretty much definitely do

Ireland loves porn

study

We just watch it for the cinematography.

The Irish Times sex survey has revealed that an overwhelming majority of Irish people have ‘used’ pornography (we’re going to use the term ‘watched’ instead, because ‘used’ sounds ridiculously creepy).

Of 12,134 total respondents, 96 per cent of men told the researchers that they had watched porn. We imagine that the other 4 per cent are either lying, or do not have access to the internet. Women don’t watch quite as much porn with 69 per cent (wink-emoji) of female respondents telling The Irish Times that they have watched porn.

Far fewer respondents claim to watch porn every single day, with 11% of all men worshipping daily at the altar of porn. Only 1% of the women involved reported that they watch porn on a per diem basis. 56 per cent, however, do take to their internet browsers for porn more than once a month.

Ireland, known to the world as a staunchly conservative and Catholic nation, certainly seems to be turning a corner when it comes to sexual liberties.

Porn is not usually a communal experience for Irish people though, with nine out of ten respondents saying that they typically watch porn alone (as opposed to with a partner).

Perhaps the most reflective questions are also the most important when it comes to the perceived impact of pornography in Ireland. When asked “How do you feel pornography affects real-life sexual relationships?”, responses were mixed.

13 per cent of respondents claimed that pornography improves real-life relationships, but 28% argued that it damages them. 59 per cent of respondents had no opinion or believed that watching porn has no impact upon real world.

Some worry that pornography is a gateway to prostitution, so we would recommend that you stick to the tried and tested porn-method of either ordering a pizza or calling a plumber and just letting things happen naturally.
