Jenson Button: king of speed, king of style

Jenson Button spends a lot of his time sweating away inside a racing suit, but away from the track he's the epitome of the well-dressed man.

Reigning Formula 1 champion, Jenson Button, is the perfect archetype of a sporting icon: fearless, stylish and dashingly handsome.

This 30- year- old is most certainly at his peak. Crossing the finishing line in Brazil, last year, he proved himself to be much more than a mere playboy, clinching the coveted world title.

Three-time world champion Jackie Stewart refers to Jenson’s driving as ‘smooth and precise’ and his style is certainly no different (it helps that his team are now sponsored by Hugo Boss and TAG Heuer).

Recently spotted front-row at Dolce & Gabbana with David Beckham, it would seem that retaining his F1 title is not the only thing on Mr Button’s mind.

Here are some Jenson-inspired pieces…

Long sleeve Eamon cardigan, Polo Jeans by Ralph Lauren, at asos.com

Redford stone trousers, Reiss, St Stephen’s Green, Dublin, €55

Hugo Boss Aviator sunglasses, from asos.com

The Carrera, Weirs and Sons, Grafton Street, Dublin, €4,800

The Carrera is a modernised version of a watch launched by Tag Heuer in 1963, as a tribute to the epic Carrera Panamericana race. The original was worn by many legendary drivers, such as five time Formula 1 champion Juan Manual Fangio. It has since been updated, but still embodies the vibrant memory of the era of ‘Gentleman Drivers’.

Formal white shirt, Reiss, St Stephen’s Green, Dublin, €85

G-Star straight jeans, Dundrum Town Centre, €110.
