Man gets ill-advised tattoo in one of the best bad tattoo stories of all time

Alan Loughnane

Oh dear…

Chris Mendiola saw that his dog appeared to have a tattoo on his belly. He found this all rather cruel, so he decided to take action.

In a Facebook post, the 25-year-old Texan wrote: “For those of you who know bear know that he has a tattoo given to him from some previous owners. It sickens me to know that people actually tattoo their pets. So tonight I got his tattoo.”

But rather than being met with cuteness and love hearts, the post was met with laughter from a lot of people.

Why, you ask?

Well, the symbol he got tattooed on his arm is the symbol vets use to mark rescued dogs as neutered.

Not surprisingly, the whole story went viral, and the photos have been shared widely online.

However, it seems that the owner did know what he was doing and wanted to get the tattoo anyway.

Speaking to Buzzfeed, Mendiola said: “We talked to our vet about the tattoo. I knew what it meant.”

“They can believe and say what they want,” he said. “But the tattoo is not for them, it’s for me.”

“I get to carry my dog with me everywhere I go,” he said. “I can just look down and know I have a part of him with me at all times.”

Frankly, even though there’s a meaning behind it, we still think it’s a bad tattoo…
