Russell Crowe proves once again how much he loves Ireland with Boyzone comment

Kate Demolder

Who knew he was such a Ronan Keating fan?

Russell Crowe has continued his love affair with all things Irish as he’s only gone and given Dublin boyband Boyzone a shoutout while replying to a promo of their new single on Twitter.

“Looking good lads,” the Gladiator posted, referring to the lads’ new single Because.

What a gem.

This isn’t the first time Crowe has expressed interest in Irish acts on Twitter. Back in May, he commended Irish artist Barry Jazz Finnegan for his charcoal mural of Maximus Decimus Meridius from Crowe’s 2000 blockbuster hit Gladiator.

Last year, the Kiwi actor also doled out high praise for Irish film ‘Sing Street’ back in 2016 when it first came out on Netflix. Three tweets imploring people to go see the film, no less.

And three months ago, Crowe sent out a reaction on his social media channels after Anton Savage appeared on The Tonight Show on TV3 opposite Sunday Times columnist David Quinn. Quinn, who is also the director of the Iona Institute, was destroyed by the actor in a seven-word tweet.

Oh, and one last one, Crowe also insisted that the whole of Ireland, in particular, should go to see his mates in their new film – because he thinks we’d love it and “laugh our tits off.”

Who knew that 54-year-old had such time for Irish current affairs? The hero we truly deserve.
