An electronic cigarette recently exploded in a barmaid’s face in the UK after the device was left to charge using a charger from an iPad.

Thankfully, the barmaid in question, 18-year-old Laura Baty, wasn’t seriously injured in the explosion and only suffered minor burns to her arm. The explosion occurred on Saturday at the Buck Inn Hotel in Richmond, North Yorkshire, and it left everyone in the pub shaken.

Speaking to the York Press, Laura said: “I was about to give somebody their change and I heard the bang. I could see the fire coming at me and I felt the heat as I ran away.

“I started crying hysterically and my arm was all black. My dress caught on fire as I ran away and I just didn’t know what was happening.”

According to the York Press, the e-cigarette that exploded was left behind the bar by a colleague of Ms Baty who was charging the device using a charger designed for an iPad.
