VIDEO: Resident fanatic takes a trip to Star War’s filming location Skellig Michael

May the force be with him

JOE

How excited are you for the new Star Wars movies?

We guarantee you’re nowhere near as excited as JOE’s resident Star Wars buff, Eoin Ronayne.

We sent Eoin to one of the movies’ most important locations, Portmagee near Skellig Michael, on the Wild Atlantic Way in County Kerry.

While there, he experienced the full force of the area; pulling a pint in the same pub as Mark Hamill, cycling onto the beautiful Valentia Island and viewing Skellig Michael, one of the key locations from the new movies.

Skellig Michael and Small Skellig are two islands rising from the Atlantic some 13km southwest of Valentia Island.

Skellig Michael looks epic in the new Star Wars movies and you can take a look at it from one of four spectactular Wild Atlantic Way Discovery Points along the coast; Bray Head, Geokaun Mountain, the Kerry cliffs and Coommanaspic. Check them out here at WildAtlanticWay.com.

If tracing the footsteps of Jedi Masters isn’t quite your thing, then worry not. The area has so much more to offer. For instance, you can stargaze at the Kerry Dark Sky Reserve, visit the Skellig Experience Centre, indulge yourself at Skelligs Chocolate Factory, ride like the wind with Lemonrock Bike Tours or just enjoy the peace and beauty the area has on offer.

For more information on all the amazing experiences on offer in the area, visit WildAtlanticWay.com
