Ferrari is planning on creating a super elite ‘collectors club’, but you’ll need to own at least five to be in with a chance of joining.

The new super elite collectors club will allow the most dedicated Ferrari fans the first pick of new and limited edition Ferraris.

“I don’t want our faithful collectors to miss the opportunity to buy one of our special series,” Ferrari boss Luca di Montezemolo told Automotive News Europe in an interview.

However, in order to be a ‘faithful collector’ you’ll need to own at least five Ferraris already. Luca di Montezemolo believes there are around 300 people in the world who are eligible for the elite collectors club.

The new club is being formed so as to avoid a repeat of the Ferrari SA Aperta fiasco. The ‘faithful collectors’ that di Montezemolo was talking about were a tad pis*ed that they didn’t get first dibs on the €400,000 SA Aperta (the drop-top version of the 599), of which only 80 were made.

“The people who are building their collection – these are the people we want to look after,” a Ferrari spokesman told Piston Heads.

Are you thinking of joining a club of some sort to pass the time? If so, keep looking.
