Absolutely incredible.
Astronomy Ireland say that is likely that a “meteor or a fireball” was flying over Irish skies on Monday night.
Sightings were noted in Clare, Cork, Athlone, Fermanagh and Mayo, with people taking to social media to send reports of a spectacular sighting in the skies.
There have also been reports of sightings in Wales.
It wasn’t a firework folks, despite the week that’s in it! 👻 🎃 They don’t make them that big yet. Sounds like a meteor or a fireball. Thanks for the reports and keep them coming.

In a video captured by an eyewitness, the meteor appears like a green glowing orb against the dark backdrop of the night sky.
Footage of the meteor was captured by Sean Linehan as he was driving through the village of Banteer in north Cork.
The footage was recorded at around 7pm on Monday night.
As he was cruising along, Linehan captured the footage on his car’s dashcam.

@CorkSafetyAlert @rtenews @Corks96FM Just caught this on my dashcam outside Banteer, Cork. Bright meteor/fireball flashing across the sky. Footage doesn't do it justice, very cool. #greatballsoffire pic.twitter.com/87ey9nvuhH
