January is traditionally the busiest month for car sales but the number fell a little bit compared to last year.
There were 39,019 171 cars registered last month down from 39,722 in January 2016, that’s according to the latest figures from the Society of the Irish Motor Industry.
There was a real surge in the market on Tuesday of this week with 5,063 cars being sold around the country.
The top four most popular brands are Hyundai, Toyota, Ford and Volkswagen, in that order, while Hyundai are also number one in the top selling models.
The top selling models were:
1. Hyundai Tucson
2. Ford Focus
3. Ford Fiesta
4. Nissan Qashqai
5. Volkswagen Golf
