It is Monday. In November. Stay inside.

It is too November-y outside to do things. And it is too Monday-y to be any more productive than watching a movie. Thankfully, we’ve taken all of the hard work out of actually having to look for the good ones. Or at the very least, the fun ones…

MONDAY 26 NOVEMBER

Miracle On 34th Street – FilmFour – 6.35pm

Is it too early to be watching this movie? Prrrroooooobably, yes. But it is still one of the greatest Christmas movies of all time, with the most perfectly cast Richard Attenborough using DNA to bring dinosaurs back to life and – oh wait, different movie. He’s Santy in this one.

Presumed Innocent – TCM – 9.00pm

Harrison Ford is hired by his boss to investigate the rape and murder of a woman, only for evidence to show up that actually implicates him in the crime. He is forced to turn to his competition (the late, great Raul Julia) to defend him when no-one else will. An old-school courtroom thriller that they just don’t make anymore.

Sahara – FilmFour – 9.00pm

Matthew McConaughey, Penelope Cruz, and Steve Zahn star in a movie that so very desperately wants to be a modern-day Indiana Jones. It doesn’t get close to those giddy highs, but there is still some fun to be had watching this entertaining trio trying to find a long lost battleship in West Africa.

Double Jeopardy – TG4 – 9.30pm

There was a time when it felt like Ashley Judd was being singled out for every wrongfully committed crime, and it felt like Tommy Lee Jones was singularly responsible for bringing every single fugitive to justice. So it was only a matter of time when their paths would cross, in this ridiculous but very watchable thriller.

Resident Evil: Extinction – Syfy – 1040pm

Pub quiz question: Can you name all five Resident Evil movies? There was the first one, then Apocalypse, then this Extinction one (set in Las Vegas), then came Afterlife, and…. Retribution?

It was actually a trick question, there were six Resident Evil movies (the last one was called The Final Chapter, because Apocalypse and Extinction just didn’t have a strong enough sense of finality about them…), but chances are if you like any of them, you like all of them. If you don’t like any of them, you won’t like this one.
