Some excellent films on tonight.
We all made it through Storm Deirdre? Great, sound. Another one to chalk off the list.
If you’re more interested in scratching your Netflix itch, we’re happy to say that Springsteen on Broadway and The Innocent Man are both available to watch, but they’ve got competition from a very decent selection of films.
Here’s the best ones on the box.
Jingle All The Way – Channel 4 at 15:40
It’s on again but it is the festive season. It’s quite possibly the strangest Christmas film ever.
The Day After Tomorrow – Channel 4 at 17:45
A film where the weather is shit. Pretty decent though.
Elf – 18:00 on ITV and UTV
SANTA! I know him.
If you’ve got ITV or UTV, you’re in luck because it’s on the box.
Confirmed: Elf is airing on ITV this Christmas. Sunday 16th December at 6pm. pic.twitter.com/yqd4ByFIZN

Rise of the Planet of the Apes – 18:55 on Film4
Ah, Caesar. The ape that stole everyone’s heart. A wonderful reinvention of the franchise that balanced wonderful set-pieces with incredible performances. Did anyone else side with the apes in this war?
Iron Man – 20:00 on ITV2
Millionaire playboy has life-changing moment of clarity and starts kicking ass in high-tech suit. Na, the film that set the MCU in motion and defined the Marvel template for the last decade.
Brooklyn – 20:00 On BBC2
Saoirse Ronan = excellent. Domhnall Gleeson = excellent. John Crowley’s direction = excellent. Nick Hornby’s script = excellent.
In a word, excellent.
Gladiator – 21:00 on RTÉ2
“My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius, commander of the Armies of the North, General of the Felix Legions and loyal servant to the true emperor, Marcus Aurelius. Father to a murdered son, husband to a murdered wife. And I will have my vengeance, in this life or the next.”
Shooter (2007) – 21:00 on Film4
Perfectly fine Mark Wahlberg actioner.
Point Break – 23:30 on BBC1
Perfectly amazing actioner.
The Adjustment Bureau – 23:50 on ITV4
