The horror series is set to be a big hit

Crystal Lake, the new Friday the 13th prequel series, finally has an international streaming home on HBO Max – but there is a catch for horror fans in Ireland.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Crystal Lake prequel will be available on HBO Max internationally, including across Europe, the Middle East and Africa – but with the exception of Ireland and the UK, as Screen Rant reported. In the United States, the show will remain exclusive to Peacock.

Why Crystal Lake won't be on HBO Max in Ireland

It leaves Irish viewers in an awkward spot. The one major territory carve-out from HBO Max’s international rollout covers Ireland and the UK, meaning fans here will not be able to stream the Jason Voorhees origin story on the platform when it lands. A separate Irish streaming home for the series has yet to be announced.

The series charts the early days of Camp Crystal Lake, the setting that has anchored the long-running slasher franchise. With the international rollout now confirmed for almost every other major market, the exclusion of Ireland and the UK is likely to frustrate fans who have been waiting on news of when and where they can watch.

For now, Irish horror fans hoping to visit Camp Crystal Lake will have to wait for clarity on a local deal. For more TV news, stay with us.
