The Snapper play

I suppose a ride is out of the question. Who’s going?

After her own baby arrived, Sharon Curley might not have the free time to go and see a play but we’re confident in saying that plenty of people will flock to the Gate Theatre, Dublin when The Snapper opens.

As reported a few months ago, one of the great Irish films of the last 30 years is being made into a play and it’s time to revisit the trials and tribulations of the Curley family.

Roddy Doyle’s famed story about a young Irish woman who becomes pregnant, resulting in a guessing game as to the identity of the father, was turned into a movie by Stephen Frears back in 1993 and since being released, it’s a bonafide cult-classic.

Take a look at the love it constantly receives whenever it’s on the TV, but the stage adaptation is shaping up to be quite the event too.

With regards to the play, Simon Delaney will be playing Dessie and he’s joined by Hilda Fay, Kate Gilmore, Simon O’Gorman, & Amilia Stewart.

You can now book tickets to see Roddy Doyle’s second instalment of the celebrated Barrytown Trilogy and all the relevant details are here:
