Derry Girls star says ‘season two is even better than the first’

Derry Girls Game of Thrones

Yep, we’re very excited!

Ever since the first season of Derry Girls finished, we’ve been keeping our eyes out for any and all info about the follow-up.

From this very exciting storyline that may (or may not?) have been confirmed to be happening, to the fantastic news that the show might be getting multiple seasons in the next few years, we’ve been overjoyed at its success.

Speaking to RTE Entertainment, Jamie-Lee O’Donnell (who plays Michelle in the show) had this to say about the second season, and why she thinks the first season was such a hit with viewers:

“Dare I say, it is even better than the first. I think Lisa [McGee, show creator] has outdone herself. It’s brilliant.”

“I think, personally, how Lisa has written the relationships between the characters, with us and with the family, and all those different interactions is so universal.

“It just happens to be set in Derry, but I think if you took the Derry accent off and the Derry backdrop and put it somewhere else it would work just as well because those relationships… I think we’ve all been in those situations. We all know these people; we’ve all been around these types of people. I think that’s why it’s done so well and really hit the nail on the head.”

Derry Girls Season Two will arrive on Channel 4 in 2019, but in the meantime, even your friends in America can now get their fix of the show!
