The ‘best action series ever’ is back with a new season on streaming

Made by one of the creators of Kin, critics are calling the show's newest fight scenes 'jaw-dropping'.

The Sky original show takes place amidst the criminal underworld of present-day London.

When it premiered in 2020, it detailed the power struggles that kicked off when Finn Wallace (Colm Meaney) - the city's most powerful criminal - is killed.

Also starring Joe Cole (Peaky Blinders), Michelle Fairley (Game of Thrones), Lucian Msamati (Conclave), Narges Rashidi (Under the Shadow) and Sope Dirisu (Slow Horses), Gangs of London was created by Gareth Evans and Matt Flannery - best known for their work on the legendary action franchise The Raid.

Along with Evans, acclaimed genre filmmakers Corin Hardy (The Hallow) and Xavier Gens (Under Paris) also directed episodes of the show.

Gangs of London received a huge amount of praise throughout its first two seasons for its brutal, visceral action set-pieces - with the website Tom's Guide even dubbing it "the best action-thriller show ever".

Its third season, which sees Kin co-creator Peter McKenna joining the writing staff on the programme, has now premiered.

Also joining the cast for the new batch of episodes is Andrew Koji (Black Doves), Richard Dormer (Fortitude) and T'Nia Miller (House of Usher).

The plot synopsis for season three reads: "When a drug shipment is spiked - rocking the Gangs and causing hundreds of deaths - the hunt is on for who is responsible."

In what's good news for fans of the series, the general consensus from critics seems to be that the third season maintains the high bar of what came before.

The Telegraph: "Gangs of London is back and finding ever more creative ways to kill people…"

THN: "Although onto its third season, the quality standard remains at a resounding high, as Gangs of London returns for yet more bloodshed, brutality, and betrayal."

Gangs of London season three is available to watch in its entirety via NOW and Sky in Ireland and the UK.

Its first two seasons are also streaming there, as well as on Netflix.
