Get Out star shares details on what the potential sequel might involve

Paul Moore

Talks about a sequel have already happened.

A few weeks ago, Get Out director Jordan Peele told The Hollywood Reporter that he’s thinking about a sequel to the smash hit horror/thriller/social satire. “I can tell you I will definitely, seriously consider it. I love that universe and I feel like there is more story to tell. I don’t know what it is now, but there are some loose ends,” he said.

Since it debuted on our screens in March, Get Out has become a box-office behemoth and a critical darling. Both Empire and the BFI named it as their favourite film of 2017 and with four Oscar nominations to its name, Peele’s one of the most in-demand writer/directors in Hollywood.

Regarding those Oscar nominations, lead actor Daniel Kaluuya is up for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role and as we’ve seen this week, the actor has absolutely charmed everyone.

Aside from his funny and heartfelt speech at the Baftas, Kaluuya’s story on The Graham Norton Show about the moment he met Denzel Washington and Oprah is superb.

Kaluuya continued his charm offensive when he appeared on Julie Adenuga’s Beats 1 show and the topic of a sequel to Get Out came up.

The whole chat is excellent as they talk about the prospect of a Wiley biopic, his role in new Marvel film Black Panther and what’s next for his career.

Regarding Get Out 2, Kaluuya thinks that the main character in the next film should be a female. “I’d actually be interested to see it as a black woman as a lead, there’s been talks about it. I’ve heard some mentions about a prequel and stuff, because there are other couples (in the film’s plot), so you could do that,” he said.

Given how precise, sharp and poignant Get Out was, this would certainly be an interesting take on the franchise.

Aside from the endless critical acclaim, Peele’s feature-length debut has also been one of the biggest success stories in recent years. Shot for just $4.5 million, Get Out has made an astonishing $176,040,665 at the box-office since its release.

No wonder a sequel is coming!
