The guys behind Scary Movie and Disaster Movie are taking aim at Star Wars

Rory Cashin

They say that when you get parodied, that’s the ultimate sign that you’ve “made it”, but that doesn’t feel like the case here.

Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer are two film-makers – to use the description generously – behind a series of well-known but not particularly well-liked parody movies. For example, here’s a list of their movies’ Rotten Tomatoes scores:

Scary Movie – 53% (which, we’ll admit, we actually do have a soft spot for)

Date Movie – 7% (that’s quite the drop in quality there…)

Epic Movie – 2%

Meet The Spartans – 2%

Disaster Movie – 1%

Vampires Suck – 4%

The Starving Games – 0% (that’s right, not one single positive review to be found)

Well, the duo have announced that they’re next lining up a parody of the Star Wars series, and the title for their magnum opus?

Star Worlds Episode Xxxive=MC2: The Force Awakens The Last Jedi Who Went Rogue.

Ugh.

Before they begin production on that gem though, we’ve got their next project to look forward to: Who The F**K Took My Daughter?, based on Liam Neeson’s Taken series.

The producer of the upcoming movie told Variety the following: “Jason and Aaron are a powerhouse duo who have proven time and time again that they are fully tapped into the what audiences love. Their fearless take on pop culture has us beyond thrilled to tackle the world’s most popular franchise with the two of them leading us into a galaxy far, far away.”

Did you hear that audiences? They’re fully tapped into what you love!

Of course the biggest problem here is that Star Wars was already parodied by the greatest comedic minds to ever grace the Earth. Are we all just pretending that Spaceballs didn’t happen??
