He also spoke in depth about his beatings and told Tubridy about what they call the "party in prison."
"I moved prisons. You come down from the car they arrest you in, the big metal car. They put about 60 people in that car and it's metal and it's hot in Egypt.
"A lot of people fainted, a lot of people lost conscious[ness] from it. Then, you are taken down and at the prison door, while you're at the door, you get a stick going in," Halawa said while acting out a whipping motion with his hands.
"Then, you have to run through these two very long rows of soldiers, one on the left and one on the right. You have to run through [them] and every soldier has a different weapon that they are going to beat you with.
"You look at it and think 'how am I going to make it through this until the end? Am I going to get a beating to head and lose myself and die?'
"You start running and you have people holding on to you trying to shield themselves using you and you're getting beaten with metal chains, bars, electric wires, sticks, anything. It feels like the longest road I can ever tell you about.
"This is what they call the party in prison."
