The eagerly-awaited sequel hits screens next year.
Following the phenomenal success of 2017’s IT reboot – just the $700 million and counting so far – all eyes are on director Andy Muschietti as fans count down the days until they can enjoy more scary clown action.
Can he possibly deliver in the face of such serious pressure?
Well, it appears that the Argentinian filmmaker has an ace up his sleeve in the form of Jessica Chastain, who is now in official talks to play the adult version of Beverly Marsh, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Chastain has been linked to the project pretty much since opening weekend of the wildly popular remake, with many putting the actress forward as ideal fan-casting, particularly seeing as Chastain and Muschietti previously worked together on 2013’s Mama.
There was even talk that Chastain might appear in a post-credits sequence that was ultimately scrapped, while Sophia Lillis, who played Bev first time out, hand-picked Chastain as her grown-up counterpart.
With the script for the sequel currently in development, Bill Skarsgård is back on board as the titular evil, and he’ll apparently be even more terrifying as he faces off against the Losers Club once again.
IT: Chapter Two hits cinemas on 6 September, 2019.
