Jeremy Clarkson will not be presenting Have I Got News For You later this month after all.

Clarkson had been due to make his first BBC appearance on April 24th since the corporation decided not to renew his Top Gear contract. He had been suspended for assaulting producer Oisín Tymon at a Yorkshire hotel.

However, Jimmy Mulville, managing director of show producers Hat Trick Productions, says he does expect Clarkson to host a show later this year.

“On reflection, Jeremy Clarkson has decided not to host Have I Got News For You. We fully expect him to resume his hosting duties later in the year,” he said.

The BBC have confirmed that Top Gear will resume but it is not known if James May and Richard Hammond will be involved.

Great British Bake Off host Sue Perkins has been linked with taking over from Clarkson on the popular motoring show.
