The actor suffered serious injuries from the accident at the start of the year.

Jeremy Renner has revealed he is home from the hospital after the snowploughing accident just over two weeks ago that left him in critical condition.

Renner suffered blunt chest trauma and orthopaedic injuries after the New Year’s Day incident that occurred near his Mt. Rose home about 25 miles outside Reno.

The Hawkeye star and two-time Oscar nominee underwent surgery following the accident and spent time in intensive care.

However, in an update to Twitter on Tuesday (17 January), the actor confirmed he has left hospital and is now at home with his family.

Renner currently stars in Mayor of Kingstown, a crime thriller series co-created by Taylor Sheridan (Hell or High Water, Sicario, Yellowstone).

Focusing on the McLusky family, the power brokers of Kingstown in Michigan in which the business of incarceration is the only thriving industry, the second season of the show premiered at the weekend on Paramount+.

Responding to a post from the series’ official Twitter account, Renner tweeted: “Outside my brain fog in recovery, I was very excited to watch episode 201 with my family at home.”

Earlier in the month, the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office revealed that Renner was run over by a 14,000-pound (6350kg) Sno-Cat while talking to a family member on New Year’s Day.

They said the actor was using the snow-clearing vehicle – also known as a PistenBully – to free a vehicle of his, being driven by a family member, from getting stuck in snow when the accident happened at around 9am, Deadline reported.

After Renner was able to free the car, Washoe County Sheriff Darin Balaam said the actor got out of the PistenBully to talk to the family member and the machine started to roll.

Renner then tried to get back into the driver’s seat, at which point the PistonBully ran over him, Balaam explained.

“An eyewitness detailed seeing Mr. Renner getting into the PistonBully, and not seeing him again until the PistonBully came to a rest in a pile of snow in front of his driveway,” he stated.

“We don’t suspect any foul play.”

The sheriff wished Renner a “full and speedy recovery” and said police do not believe the performer was “impaired at all”.

“We believe this is a tragic accident,” he added.
