We don’t make all our life decisions based on movies, but this one seems like a safe bet.
Loads of plots revolve around vacations, so looking at films seems like a natural place for us to start when picking our next holiday destination.
Let’s take a look.
A relaxing holiday in a quaint town
Movie we watched: In Bruges
The scenery looks great and all, but there’s far too many people shooting guns and the queue for that bell tower looks like it’s probably not worth the wait.

Holiday cruise
Movie we watched: Titanic
Aside from the whole iceberg scenario, this one seems alright.
We’re a bit put off by all the gobshites pretending they can fly though.

A week detoxing in the sun
Movie we watched: The Beach
First of all, I’m never inviting Leonardo DiCaprio on holiday.
Secondly, this movie proves that if something looks too good to be true, then it probably is full of people who are eventually going to try and kill you.
Inter-railing in Europe
Movie we watched: Hostel
Just no… nopedy nope. Super-never. NO!

A trip to the lake
Movie we watched: Cabin in the Woods
This starts off looking like good fun, but we couldn’t deal with that lad from The West Wing trying to control our every move. So, I’m afraid this is a no-go.

An adventure holiday
Movie we watched: Deliverance
On the one hand, I am good on the banjo. On the other hand, I’m not that good at escaping crazed mad men.

Skiing
Movie watched: Frozen (Not the Disney one)
Who wants to ski this time of year anyway?

A family trip to somewhere sunny
Movie we watched: The Hills have Eyes
Sunscreen: check. Traveller cheques: check. Ability to avoid mutated zombie things that are trying to kill you: eh…

Backpacking around Australia
Movie we watched: Wolf Creek
Australia sounds great, but we think we’ll stick with Athlone after seeing this flick.

After catching all of those holiday movies we reckon we’ll just stay put and watch the new National Lampoon movie ‘Vacation.’
It’s released everywhere on August 21st and it looks pretty darn hilarious. Not to mention, the cinema looks like a far safer option than actually going away anywhere.
