Kanye West backs Idris Elba to be the next James Bond

The British actor could become the first Black 007 after Daniel Craig parks his Aston Martin

The British actor could become the first Black 007 after Daniel Craig parks his Aston Martin.

Kanye West feels that Idris Elba would be the perfect choice to take over the role of James Bond from Daniel Craig.

A leaked email from Sony’s Amy Pascal reportedly said that the former star of The Wire “should be the next Bond” and West agrees.

“James Bond is a role made for British actors and you won’t find a British actor who has the talent of Idris. To be honest you won’t find many anywhere who have his talent. A black Bond would be visionary no doubt,” said the rapper.

Elba has seen some opposition to his cause, most notably from US Conservative Rush Limbaugh, who feels that the colour of his skin means he would be unsuitable for the iconic role.

“He was white and Scottish, period. That is who James Bond is. I know it’s racist to probably even point this out . . . We had 50 years of white Bonds because Bond is white. Bond was never black.”

Limbaugh’s right, of course. It is racist to point it out.

Elba himself has spoken out on the subject in some style, of course.
