Here’s the line-up for this week’s Christmas-themed Late Late Show

Dave Hanratty

Ready for some seasonal cheer?

Friday approaches, and the Late Late Show Christmas episode.

It’s time to get festive as Ryan Tubridy goes full Christmas, welcoming a series of guests who all have some yuletide cheer in them, presumably. Let’s run it down…

Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli will pitch up alongside his children Matteo and Virginia to discuss meeting the late Queen Elizabeth II, family life (hence the kids, one expects), how faith plays an important part in their lives, the magic of Christmas, and lots more. They’ll also sing. How nice!

Speaking of music; Imelda May and Glen Hansard will be in conversation all about the famous busk that basically shuts down the top of Grafton Street in Dublin every Christmas. It’s all in aid of the Simon Community, of course, so get involved accordingly if you like.

May and Hansard will also discuss their own professional and personal lives, because that’s what guests on chat shows tend to do, don’t they? The pair will also perform a couple of songs, including the headline-grabbing ‘Fairytale of New York’.

Hansard will also reunite with Markéta Irglová as they provide a rendition of Academy Award-winning song ‘Falling Slowly’, all these years later.

Comedian and social media funnyman Seán Burke will deliver a “very special” Christmas Carol.

TikTok sensation and new Blue Peter presenter Joel M will also be present for a “madcap” fusion of magic and illusion.

A wild night in store. It all kicks off on RTÉ One at 9.35pm on Friday, 16 December.
