Marvel boss answers the big question about the new Spider-Man film after the events of Infinity War

Paul Moore

Spider-Man: Far From Home

We’ve all been wondering about the timeline.

Hey guys, you ever see that really old movie, Avengers: Infinity War?

Ok, it’s not that old and we’re very confident that 99% of people have seen the biggest film in the MCU, but in the grand tradition of Peter Parker’s obsession with shoehorning a film reference into Spider-Man’s fight scenes, we’re just going to go with it.

Of course, the wall-crawler is back and the first trailer for Spider-Man: Far From Home was an absolute doozy as Tom Holland (the best version of the character) travels around Europe to do battle with The Elementals.

Yes, we know that Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal) is probably going to be revealed as the ‘big baddie’ of the film, but the footage of Spider-Man doing battle against The Elementals was class.

In case you’re unfamiliar, these villains are Hellfire (the leader of the group, who can generate flames), Hydron (a foe with aquatic powers, including the ability to control water), Magnum (he has abilities that allow manipulation of earth, minerals and rock), and finally, Zephyr (the only female of the team who has the power to control air).

Anyway, we saw Spider-Man do battle with these foes in the new footage but plenty of people were wondering how this could be? After all, the last time was saw Peter Parker was on Titan when he was crumbling to ash in Tony Stark’s arms.

Well, in an interview with IGN, Marvel president Kevin Feige discussed the MCU timeline and elaborated on where Far From Home fits into the events that unfolded in Infinity War.

Feige said that the new Spider-Man film sees Peter dealing with the aftermath of the events of the third and fourth Avengers movies.

In his words, Far From Home deals with: “What is it like to try to go back to a normal life after what happens in this movie [Infinity War]? Not to mention what happens in the next [Avengers] movie,” he said.

Basically, it takes place after Avengers: Endgame.

On that note, we now know that Nick Fury, Peter Parker, Aunt May, and a whole host of characters have survived Thanos’ snap, or that the highly-discussed time travel arc of Endgame has been successful.

“It’s fun to see that, because he can represent, you know, the world as a whole, as they try to move forward,” Feige said. “And you can do it in a way that is tonally unique, and tonally different than, certainly, the two Avengers films that people are about to see.”
