Monsters University premiere hits Irish shores

JOE

Monsters University, the long awaited prequel to Disney and Pixar’s fantastic Monsters, Inc. looks set to be a huge success

It doesn’t feel like it’s been over a decade since we saw Monsters, Inc. (2001) but Mike and Sulley are back on our screens to captivate a whole new generation of fans, and a few of us older ones who remember it fondly from back in the day.

Monsters University is a prequel which takes place a good few years before the last film, when the two lads are still in college and learning their trade of how to scare the pants off kids, and they weren’t the best of friends yet.

Billy Crystal and John Goodman are back in the main roles, and Kelsey Grammar (whose voice you’ll recognise as that of Sideshow Bob) is also on board, as well as Steve Buscemi and the hilarious Ken Jeong.

The movie looks to have taken just over $170 million over in the US in the first two weeks of its release, so it will certainly sit atop the box office when it’s released in our cinemas on July 12th.
