A bloody masterpiece…

It’s Blue Monday, apparently.

In the immortal words of The Cure, “I don’t care if Monday’s blue”.

You know what I DO care about, though?

Lots of great movies on the telly.

Here’s JOE’s top picks for the small screen tonight.

Captain Phillips – ITV4 – 9pm

“Look at me… I am the film watcher now.”

Logan – Film4 – 9pm

Our top pick for tonight is easily one of the best Marvel films ever released.

In fact, calling it a Marvel film would be to do it a disservice – it’s just brilliant.

Hugh Jackman gives the performance of a lifetime in his final outing as Wolverine, and they really upped the ante with this one.

A more adult take on the superhero genre, this film has lots of blood, gore, and an emotional centre.

Must see cinema.

The Happening – Sony Movie Channel – 9pm

M Night Shyamalan combines his trademark style of horror with Mark Wahlberg.

The Death of Stalin – TG4 – 9.30pm

Stalin is dead. Hilarity ensues. We’re serious, this film is gas altogether.

Alfie – Turner Classic Movies – 11.20pm

Michael Caine is a very cheeky chappy, indeed.

Oblivion – ITV4 – 11.40pm

Not an adaptation of the Elder Scrolls, unfortunately.

Loving Vincent – Film 4 – 11.45pm

65,000 oil paintings were created for this animated film about the life of Vincent Van Gogh.
