Critics loved it, but it ended up losing money at the box office.

Well, here we are.

It’s the end of May, and with that, we’re coming up to the midway point of the year.

It’s crazy to think that 2022 is already nearly halfway done, but there is still a lot to come this year.

One of those highlights, of course, being catching up on some great films in the evening.

Here’s JOE’s top picks for the movies on your TV this Tuesday (31 May).

Lethal Weapon – Turner Classic Movies – 9pm

“I’m getting to old for this shit.”

The Frozen Ground – Great! Movies – 9pm

Nicolas Cage will do anything, and sometimes, it’s great. This is not one of these instances.

Collateral – ITV4 – 11.05pm

This film is the single reason you should book a taxi ahead of time, instead of accidentally picking up a hitman off the street.

Triple 9 – Film 4 – 11.20pm

Ocean’s Eleven, but with 100% more Kate Winslet.

Ophelia – BBC Two – 12am

Ophelia, you’re breaking my heart…

Righteous Kill – Virgin Media Two – 12.05am

Al Pacino and Robert De Niro team up once again in this fairly terrible crime drama.

Odd Thomas – Horror Channel – 12.10am

Regular Thomas just didn’t have the same ring to it.

A Most Violent Year – Great! Movies – 1.20am

Our top pick for tonight is one for the night owls.

A crime thriller starring Oscar Isaac and Academy Award winning actress Jessica Chastain should be a smash hit, but the film just didn’t blow up at the box office like you would expect.

Critics placed this quite high in their end of year lists, and we think it’s pretty great too. If you haven’t seen it yet (and odds are, you haven’t), you should check this one out.

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
