Leonardo DiCaprio’s Oscar winning performance is among the movies on TV tonight

Hugh Carr

movies on tv february 6

The film was nominated for 12 Academy Awards, and won two.

The first weekend of February is officially over.

Wherever you were, or whatever you were doing, we hope you had a great one.

And what better way to top it all off than with a good movie?

Here’s JOE’s top picks for the films on your telly this evening.

Johnny English Reborn – RTÉ2 – 5.30pm

The second one.

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom – E4 – 5.40pm

The second one (and the third best, in this writer’s opinion).

No Strings Attached – Comedy Central – 9pm

A run of the mill romcom starring Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher.

The Nice Guys – Film4 – 9pm

Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling in this crime comedy set in 1970’s LA.

The Last Stand – Sony Movie Channel – 9pm

When he isn’t putting his life at risk for the sake of Jackass, Johnny Knoxville appears in this action flick starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes – E4 – 10pm

These films had no right to be so good.

The Revenant – ITV4 – 11.10pm

Our top pick for tonight is an acting tour de force.

Leonardo DiCaprio went through hell making this Western survival film, so we think the Oscar was deserved at this point.

Director Alejandro G. Iñárritu won a Best Director Oscar for The Revenant, becoming the first person to win consecutive Academy Awards since 1950 for this and Birdman the year prior.

Well worth a watch.

Unforgiven – Turner Classic Movies – 11.20pm

One of the last great Westerns.
