Our pick for tonight is this 1980 British film revolving around up-and-coming gangster Harold Shand (a titanic Bob Hoskins) and his girlfriend Victoria (Helen Mirren) who, as they are about to close a lucrative deal, are tested by the insurgence of an unknown, very powerful threat.
Also featuring Pierce Brosnan in a small but pivotal early part for the actor, The Long Good Friday’s incredible performances, gritty depiction of late ’70s London and unforgettable closing scene have made it a classic in the gangster movie sub-genre.
