A terrific crime comedy is among the movies on TV tonight

World War Z – Film4 – 9pm

In this horror blockbuster, Brad Pitt plays a former UN investigator who travels the world gathering clues to find a way to stop a zombie pandemic.

Forrest Gump – Sky Showcase – 9pm

King Arthur: Legend of the Sword – Turner Classic Movies – 9pm

Filmmaker Guy Ritchie’s take on the legend starring Sons of Anarchy’s Charlie Hunnam.

By the Grace of God – BBC Four – 9pm

This powerful 2018 drama centres on three men who set out to expose sexual abuse being hidden by the Catholic Church in France.

The Naked Gun 2 1/2: The Smell of Fear – Comedy Central – 9pm

The second in the very funny spy spoof franchise.

Captain America: Civil War – Channel 4 – 9.20pm

Captain America and Iron Man become foes in this pivotal MCU entry.

Louis Theroux: My Scientology Movie – W – 10pm

Famed documentary maker Louis Theroux turns his attention to Scientology in this feature-length film.

Out of Innocence – RTÉ One – 10pm

Fiona Shaw stars in this Irish drama based on the Kerry Babies case of 1984.

True Grit – ITV4 – 10.15pm

Jeff Bridges is excellent in this acclaimed second adaptation by the Coen Brothers of the Western novel of the same name.

Get Shorty – TG4 – 10.20pm

Our pick for tonight, this crime comedy follows Chili Palmer (John Travolta), a mobster and loan shark who inadvertently gets involved in feature film production.

Based on an Elmore Leonard novel and co-starring Danny DeVito, Gene Hackman and Rene Russo, Get Shorty is a very entertaining crime caper, with a dash of Hollywood satire thrown in for good measure.

The Mummy – RTÉ2 – 10.30pm

The critically-panned take on the classic horror franchise starring Tom Cruise.

Miles Davis: Birth of the Cool – BBC Two – 10.30pm

A documentary about the legendary jazz musician.

Leonard Cohen: I’m Your Man – Sky Arts – 10.50pm

Another music documentary, this time about singer-songwriter Leonard Cohen.

30 Days of Night – Horror Channel – 10.55pm

An Alaskan town is beset by vampires as it enters into a 30-day-long polar night in this very underrated horror flick.

Pet Sematary – Film4 – 11.15pm

The 2019 adaptation of Stephen King’s horror novel of the same.

True Story – BBC One – 12.10am

James Franco and Jonah Hill star in this atmospheric true crime drama.

Warcraft – Channel 4 – 12.20am

An adaptation of the popular video game series.

A White, White Day – BBC Two – 12.55am

In this acclaimed Icelandic drama, a police chief mourning the recent death of his wife begins investigating a man he believes she was having an affair with.
