There’s plenty of choice this evening with flicks ranging from old-school spy thrillers to 90’s whacky comedies – you’re not going to be stuck for an option!

Octopussy – RTÉ2 – 6.05pm

Roger Moore returns for his sixth outing as 007, this time uncovering an international jewel-smuggling operation, headed by the mysterious titular character.

Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey – FilmFour – 7.10pm

The second film in the cult franchise starring Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves sees the titular goofs being hunted down by future android doubles of themselves.

Shanghai Noon – ITV2 – 8pm

Our pick of the movies on TV tonight is this genre-bending comedy starring Jackie Chan and Owen Wilson. While the premise sounds ridiculous, the movie itself is actually great and has received positive reviews almost across the board.

The Old West meets the Far East in this 2000 flick focusing on a Chinese warrior sent to rescue a princess in America, where he finds help from an outlaw.

Taken 3 – Great! Movies – 9pm

One of the movies on TV tonight sees Liam Neeson once again brush off his particular set of skills for the final film in the Taken trilogy.

Demolition Man – Turner Classic Movies – 9pm

Sylvester Stallone stars in this 1993 sci-fi flick about a police officer who is thawed from his cryogenically frozen state in the year 2032 to hunt down his violent nemesis.

Under Siege – FilmFour – 9pm

Steven Siegal goes up against a group of terrorists on a Navy battleship, need we say more?

The Mauritanian – BBC2 – 10pm

Based on the NY Times best-selling memoir Guantánamo Diary, this 2019 drama centres on a man who was held for fourteen years (from 2002 to 2016) without charge in the infamous military prison.

Under Siege 2: Dark Territory – ITV4 – 10.20pm

The same as Under Siege, but replace the battleship with a train.

Kiss the Girls – Channel 5 – 10.55pm

Morgan Freeman is in his peak psychological thriller phase in this 1997 flick where he stars as a Washington D.C. detective on the hunt for a serial killer.

Ghost in the Shell – E4 – 11.05pm

Sci-fi based on the popular Manga comics starring Scarlett Johansson as a robotic supersoldier investigating her past.

Old Boys – FilmFour – 11.05pm

This coming of age comedy set in a boys boarding school is a modern retelling of Cyrano starring The End of the F**king World’s Alex Lauther.

Trespass – Turner Classic Movies – 11.25pm

Crime thriller starring  Nicolas Cage and Nicole Kidman as a married couple taken hostage by extortionists.

Tolkien – Channel 4 – 1am

2019 biographical flick about the early life of famed Lord of the Rings author J.R.R. Tolkien.
